1Overview
Every order you place with us is a vote of confidence, and we don't take that for granted. Melton Tackle Reward Points is our way of saying thank you for your loyalty - earn points on qualifying purchases and other actions, then put them toward the gear you're already after.
Before you shop, take a look at how points are earned and the limitations that apply - see Earning Reward Points and Reward Points Minimums and Maximums below for full details.
Benefits
Once you register, you'll earn and accrue reward points, redeemable at checkout toward the cost of the eligible items in your order.
2Earning Reward Points
Rewards can currently be earned for the following actions:
- Purchasing qualifying products at full price while logged in.
- Writing a review that meets our quality guidelines on purchased products.
Earning Reward Points For Purchasing Products
How to Earn Points
- You must be logged into your account when placing your order for points to be awarded.
- Non-discounted products generally qualify for reward points, with some exceptions - see Limitations below.
- Points are earned at a rate of 5 points for every US dollar spent on qualifying products. This excludes any amount spent on taxes and shipping. If you redeem reward points on an order, they reduce the dollar amount you are charged. Since points are earned on what you actually pay, redeeming points on an order will also lower the points you earn on that order.
- Points are credited once your order is fully invoiced. For credit card orders, points are awarded when all products are shipped. For PayPal orders, points are awarded after the order is placed.
The earning rate above may change at any time. Your order locks in the rate that was advertised when you placed it. Later rate changes do not apply retroactively to orders already placed.
Limitations
- Orders placed by phone or in one of our physical stores do not qualify for reward points - only orders placed online through this website earn points.
- If you request an item substitution on an online order by phone or email, the substituted item is not tracked by the website and will not earn points.
- Gift cards do not qualify for reward points.
- Some brands do not allow reward points to be earned on their products. When this applies, a message will be displayed on the product page.
- Items that are discounted or on promotion do not qualify for rewards points.
- Clearance items do not qualify for reward points.
- Orders that have applied shopping cart discounts do not qualify for rewards points.
- For orders that are only partially fulfilled, you will only earn points on qualifying items that were fulfilled.
Rewards Points Multiplier Promotion
During rewards points multiplier promotions, eligible products from select brands will earn multiple times the normal rewards points rate.
Active multiplier promotions and eligible brands may change at any time. Your order locks in whichever multiplier was in effect when you placed it - later changes to a promotion do not apply retroactively to orders already placed.
Important Eligibility Information
Multiplier eligibility is based on the brand assigned to each product, not the order as a whole. A product from a select brand qualifies for the promotional multiplier unless otherwise excluded.
| Product Type | Eligible for Rewards Points Multiplier? |
|---|---|
| Qualifying Product from the promoted brand | Yes |
| Custom Options & Add-On Services | May Vary, See Below |
| Rod & Reel Combos | May Vary, See Below |
| Products Already Excluded from Rewards Points | No |
Custom Options and Add-On Services
Some products include optional add-ons such as spooling services, rigging services, custom components, or other upgrades.
These add-ons may be assigned to a different brand than the product itself and may not qualify for the rewards points multiplier promotions.
As a result, the base product may earn multiple times rewards points, while certain options or services added to the same order may earn standard rewards points or no rewards points at all.
Rod & Reel Combos
Rod and reel combos don't automatically qualify for the multiplier promotion because they may pair a rod and reel from different brands. A combo only qualifies if both the rod and the reel are from the same brand, and that brand is currently part of a multiplier promotion. To check a specific combo, add it to your cart while logged in - if it qualifies, you'll see a message about bonus points; otherwise, it's excluded from the promotion.
Earning Reward Points for Product Reviews
We collect product reviews to help other customers make informed purchasing decisions. Sometime after your order ships, REVIEWS.io will email an invitation to review your purchase to the email address on that order - use the link in that email to write your review. Review invitations go out to every customer, but you only earn points for reviews on orders that were attached to your account. If you were not logged in when you placed the order, it will not be attached to your account, so a review for it will not earn points. Reviews earn 1% of the price you paid for that item, converted to points - up to $5.00 per item and $250.00 total per order.
This rate may change at any time - your order locks in the rate that was in effect when you placed it, even if you submit your review later and the rate has since changed.
Important
Review Quality Guidelines
These guidelines exist to make sure a review contains enough information to be helpful to other customers, and meeting them qualifies your review for points:
- Your review should be a product review and on topic.
- Your review should explain what you liked or didn't like about the product, not just state a rating.
- Your review must be free of profanity, harassment, or abusive language.
Whether your review is positive or negative has no effect on its eligibility for points - only meeting the guidelines above does.
Review publication is handled by REVIEWS.io, under its own guidelines, separate from our quality check - even if a review doesn't meet our quality guidelines, it may still be published.
Didn't quite meet the guidelines on your first try? No problem - update your review as many times as you'd like within the resubmission window, and we'll take another look each time. Even a critical review earns you points as long as it meets the guidelines above; an honest account of a product that fell short of your expectations is exactly the kind of review other shoppers find most helpful.
To resubmit, find your original review invitation email from REVIEWS.io, our review partner, and use the link inside it - your updated review will replace the old one. You have 30 days from your review's first rejection to make it count.
The one thing we ask: keep it genuine. We reserve the right to permanently reject resubmissions that cross into abuse of our team - like off-topic spam, or edits that only reword harassing language - so our staff can keep giving every review a fair, timely look.
3Redeeming Reward Points
Turn your points into real savings on your next order - redeeming takes just one click at checkout.
How to Redeem
- At checkout, look for a "Use reward points" button in the Payment Method area.
- Your current balance and its dollar equivalent are shown right there, so you always know what you're working with.
Redemption Rate
Points redeem at a rate of $1 for every 200 points - so 1,000 points is worth $5 toward your order. You need at least 200 points in your account to redeem at checkout.
Limitations
- Reward points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged, redeemed, or converted for cash or a cash equivalent - they can only be applied toward the cost of a qualifying item.
- Reward points can't be used toward taxes or shipping costs.
- Reward points can't be used to purchase gift cards.
- You can't choose how many points to apply - redeeming uses your full points balance, unless the order total is less than what your points are worth, in which case only enough points to cover the order are used.
4Reward Points Minimums and Maximums
Minimum
Reward points require a minimum balance of 200 points before they can be redeemed. You will not be able to use your reward points until you accrue at least 200 points, at which point they will become available in checkout.
Maximum
Reward points are capped at a maximum balance of 50,000 points. Once you reach that balance, you will not earn any additional points until you redeem some of it - the excess is not saved or carried forward.
5Viewing Your Reward Points
Points Balance
Your Reward Points page shows your current balance and its dollar equivalent, the current earning and redemption rates, and whether you have reached the minimum needed to redeem or the maximum balance limit.
Balance History
The same page keeps a running history of every point transaction - earned, redeemed, and expired - each entry preserving the rate and currency that applied at the time, even if the program's rates change later.
Email Notification Settings
From the same page, you can subscribe separately to three email notifications: one whenever your points balance updates, one when points are about to expire, and one for Melton Tackle emails about your product reviews (such as a request to add more detail so a review qualifies for points). This does not affect any separate emails REVIEWS.io may send you about a review.
6Reward Points Expiration
Reward points expire 0 days from the day they're earned. Each batch of points you earn has its own expiration clock. If left unused, older points expire before newer ones. Redeeming uses your oldest available points first, so redeeming regularly is what keeps your points from expiring.
Note: You can sign up to receive an email notification when your points are about to expire, from Email Notification Settings in the Reward Points section of the My Account area.
7Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs
General
Do orders placed via the phone qualify for Reward Points?
No. Points can only be applied to orders placed online. Phone orders do not flow through the website, so there is no way to add points to them. While talking with a sales representative, you can request a "Share Cart" link to check out online and have your order qualify.
What happens if I forget to Log In when placing my order?
You will not earn points on that order. Logging in attaches the order to your account, which is what makes it eligible to earn points.
I can't find the "Use reward points" button on checkout
Please check that you are logged in and that you have at least 200 points on your account.
Can I use reward points together with a discount code?
Yes. Redeeming points works alongside coupon codes and discounted items. This is separate from earning points - discounted items still do not earn points (see Limitations under Earning Reward Points above).
Do I earn points on Taxes and Shipping?
No, you do not earn points on any amount spent on taxes or shipping.
Why didn't I earn points on my order?
Please check that you were logged in when you placed your order. Log into your account and see if the order shows up in your account. If it is not there, then you did a guest checkout, which does not qualify for reward points.
If you were logged in, check that your order had qualifying items. Some products do not qualify because they are discounted, on promotion, clearance items, gift cards, or restricted by the brand - for example, an order made up of only a gift card will not earn any points. Brand-restricted products will display a message on the product page and in your cart. See the "Earning Reward Points" section above for details.
If you were logged in and had qualifying items, check if your order has been fully invoiced. For credit card orders, this happens once all items have shipped. For PayPal orders, this happens at checkout. Points are not awarded until an order is fully invoiced. Orders are usually left open because of backordered items. If you would rather not wait for a backorder, contact our staff and ask them to cancel the backordered items. The same applies if you substituted an item by phone or email - remind our staff to cancel out the original item so the order can close out. Staff usually handle this on their own, but a reminder can help. Once the rest of the order closes out, you will receive your points.
If none of the above apply, check whether you are already at your account's maximum points balance - once you hit that cap, you will not earn any additional points until you redeem some. See Maximum under Reward Points Minimums and Maximums above.
What happens to my points if I return an item or get a refund?
If you are refunded for part or all of an order, the points you earned on that order are recalculated based on the refunded amount, and any points you no longer qualify for are deducted from your balance.
Can I transfer or gift my reward points to someone else?
No, reward points cannot be transferred or gifted to another account. Your points balance is tied to your own account and can only be redeemed by you.
Product Reviews
Why didn't I earn points from my review?
Check that you were logged in when you placed the order for that product - reviews on orders that were not attached to your account never earn points, even if the review itself meets the guidelines.
If you were logged in, your review may not have met the Review Quality Guidelines listed above - check the email you received for the specific reason. This determination is unrelated to whether your review's sentiment was positive or negative - eligibility is based solely on meeting the quality guidelines, never on how favorable the review is.
Review points are also capped at $5.00 per item and $250.00 total per order, and can't exceed the account-wide maximum of 50,000 points either - if you have reached that limit, further reviews won't add more points until you redeem.
How do I update or change my product review?
We're unable to provide a direct edit link here - reviews are collected through REVIEWS.io, our third-party review partner. Find the original review invitation email from REVIEWS.io in your inbox and use the link in that email to submit your updated review; it will replace your existing one.
